Welcome to the USS Caduceus SIM. The USS Caduceus SIM is a role playing game that is played via Internet e-mail. It is a cooperative story telling effort, where each participant (player) creates and controls one of the characters in the story. This Player Character (PC) then acts and lives in the game world environment. In this case, the setting is the 24th century, in the Star Trek universe. The year is now 2379.
If you are familiar with role playing games, then you understand the processes involved in creating a character for a game. In a traditional role playing game, there are sets of rules that govern what abilities and characteristics your character possesses. In the USS Caduceus SIM, your character biography serves this purpose. It will explain key points about your character so that the other players can visualize and interact with you correctly when they write their parts of the story. In a way, this simplifies the process, as you do not need to read complicated role playing manuals to figure out how to create your character. You simply have to put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, and let your imagination paint a picture of who you will be in the Star Trek universe on board the USS Caduceus.
When creating a character for the USS Caduceus SIM, there are a few guidelines that must be followed. Below is an outline of the process for the creation of a character for the USS Caduceus SIM.
You should send an e-mail message to the GM at captmanion@yahoo.com stating three things:
It should describe a little about yourself. Your experience with SIMs or role playing games (including a list of any current or previous sims, please), your likes, dislikes, other interests, etc. This will let the GM get to know you a little better in order to run a better SIM for everyone.
It should describe the character you are thinking of playing. This can be sketchy, but the more detail, the better. It is just to give the GM an idea of what you are thinking of, so he can make suggestions, or point out any foreseen problems with the initial concept. Please be prepared for feedback from the GM regarding proposed characters.
It should describe the area in which you would like to be posted. Perhaps you want to be in Engineering, or maybe Security, or perhaps you want to be one of the many possible Doctors possible. Your initial message should state your area of interest.
NOTE:
No Starfleet Intelligence Operatives will be stationed on the USS Caduceus
No Federation Military forces will be stationed on the USS Caduceus, other than standard Security Department personnel
No Q or Q like powers will be allowed!
No Borg or former Borg characters
No Android characters. Data and Lore are the only viable androids in the Trek storyline.
No Starfleet Intelligence or Marine characters are allowed as this is a Hospital ship on missions of mercy or humanitarian assistance. The presence of such personnel would jeopardize the neutral acceptance of the vessel.
This is just the first step in the character creation process. Once you have read and completed the above outline, then it's time to move on to the Application Page.
